The “Lord of Sipán” is the name given to the ruler of the Moche civilization who was buried in a lavish tomb in the archaeological site of Huaca Rajada, in northern Peru. The tomb, discovered in 1987, contained a variety of artifacts made of gold, silver, and other precious materials, as well as the remains of several human and animal sacrifices. The Lord of Sipán was likely a high-ranking warrior-priest who held significant political and religious power in the Moche society.
